MEET OUR FOUNDERS

Julie and Jorja Tuten are a mother/daughter team that have been involved in the travel volleyball circuit since 2015. Between the two of them, their roles have included coach, administrator, player and parent which gives them a wide variety of knowledge and perspective.

Dealing with a few different travel clubs in varying capacities, the Tuten's have witnessed several different business and volleyball methods that made clubs successful and enjoyable for member families, and some decisions that have not. They are using this combination of experiences to build a competitive, affordable travel club for Lenoir County, NC and surrounding areas that players and their families can be proud to be a part of!

VOLLEYBALL DIRECTOR

BUSINESS DIRECTOR

Julie has assisted in a wide variety of roles for travel, school and recreational volleyball.  She was the statistician for a local high school volleyball team for four years.  Eventually, she moved into coaching recreational teams in Pitt County and a travel team for an eastern NC junior club.  At CPVC, Julie has acted as head or assistant coach for multiple national and regional level teams.  Simultaneously, she handles several administrative roles for CPVC such as website design, back-end team management , finances and  much, much more.

Julie also has a significant amount of college recruiting management experience.  Such duties have included video capture and editing for highlights, building recruiting profiles on high traffic recruiting websites and knowledge of the rules regarding when and how a player may contact coaches, depending upon the division.

A business management role comes naturally for Julie after spending more than two decades each in management positions as a  Group Fitness Coordinator/Instructor at a Greenville, NC health and fitness facility and as Vice President of a family owned engineering firm in eastern NC.

Julie enjoys spending her spare time with her husband David, and their two children.

After playing volleyball for many years, Jorja found her true passion in coaching. At a young age, she began coaching recreational volleyball in Pitt County for a few seasons. Later she progressed to volunteer assistant JV coach at the high school she attended. As her coaching skills matured, Jorja became a head coach at a junior travel club in Eastern, NC.  Since the inception of CPVC, Jorja has coached multiple very successful national level teams.  Jorja's in depth knowledge and prior coaching success paved the way to her most recent professional achievement as a local junior college assistant coach.  Jorja was offered and accepted this position in late 2022.

Jorja experienced great success as a player herself as a starter on the varsity team all four years of high school and compiled a record of 70-12 that included  two State Championships, three State Championship appearances and three Conference Championships. This success caught the attention of many college coaches. She had 14 offers from college coaches all over the country to play volleyball at a variety of divisions.  Some of these offers included scholarships.  After carefully considering all of her long term goals, Jorja accepted an offer to play at Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC while studying to become a nurse.

Due to her high volleyball IQ and ability to relate to young ladies, she is an excellent girls coach, Jorja is logical and respectful as a coach while teaching the players how to use a combination of athleticism and intelligence in order to be successful.

MEET OUR COACHES

Although each team has a head coach that is ultimately in charge,  all of our coaches at CPVC work in a collaborative effort all season long to make our teams successful. By working together, we help each player bring their volleyball skills and knowledge to a higher level. More coaches means more one-on-one time, more people to notice skills that need work or different ways of explaining things that may help things "click" for each player.  Find out more about each coach by clicking on the image or name.
